ALICEVILLE SELECTED FOR FUEL PELLET PRODUCTION FACILITY

May 9, 2011 -- Tuscaloosa, Ala. – Approximately 104 acres on Highway 17 near Aliceville, Alabama, has been selected as the site for a commercial-scale wood fuel pellet production facility. As announced earlier this year, Westervelt Renewable Energy, LLC, will produce pellets from Southern Yellow Pine material for export and domestic markets.

The site, located on the Tenn-Tom Waterway, is the former Huyck Felt Plant, and was purchased from the Industrial Development Board of Aliceville. Construction is expected to begin in 2011 with product deliveries scheduled for early 2012. The company estimates the plant will initially produce 250,000 metric tons of wood pellets per year, expandable to 500,000 metric tons per year.

"Aliceville IDBAs representatives Alan Harper and Everett Owens were instrumental in our selection of this site for our new facility. We are excited to expand in the Aliceville area and look forward to announcing a groundbreaking ceremony soon," said Alicia Cramer, Vice President of Business Development for The Westervelt Company.

Through both its Recreation and Natural Resources divisions, The Westervelt Company has been a corporate citizen of Pickens County since the 1950's. "We look forward to working with Westervelt Renewable Energy as they move forward with the project" stated Everett Owens.

The pellets will be produced from both biomass and plantation resources.
